Marcus is a co-founder and Managing Director of Capra. Prior to his direction of the company he was the Deputy Director of IP Commercialisation at Curtin University of Technology where he played a key role in the spin-out of technology-based companies Scanalyse Pty Ltd and Glycan Biosciences Pty Ltd, in addition to other licensing and commercialisation projects. Prior to this Marcus was CEO of Alzhyme Pty Ltd, a start-up commercialising therapeutics for the treatment of Alzheimer’s Disease. Marcus also played a key role in the spin-out of Neuromonics Ltd, a successful venture-funded medical device company now expanding throughout the US.
Marcus’ career has been exclusively devoted to commercialisation and through roles at TechStart Australia Pty Ltd, a boutique venture capital company, and Curtin University of Technology where he has gained experience in projects spanning a wide range of technology disciplines, including life sciences, information and communications technology, engineering and materials. As a consultant Marcus has prepared business plans, successful grant applications and most notably the successful business case for the $100m Resources and Chemistry Precinct at Curtin University of Technology.
Marcus holds a Bachelor’s degree in Science, a Post-Graduate Diploma in Business (with Distinction), and is in the final stages of completing his MBA Marcus is a member of the WA Chamber of Commerce and Industry’s Innovation Working Group and has previously held elected positions in industry associations, including Co-Chairman for the Western Australian Branch of AusBiotech, the Australian Biotechnology Association and a member of the WA Branch of the Australian Research Management Society.
